EKO-akcja! Startujemy!

Połączmy siły i dbajmy o nasze środowisko, dbajmy wspólnie!

“Trash is something that is useless, something you don’t need any more.” This is the definition that the participants in POLITES’ latest workshop agreed on. Students of Szczecin’s Gimnazjum 34 came to the POLITES office on 22.6. to discuss a topic that we all need to talk about: Trash and its disposal. European volunteer Sabine from Germany led this workshop and together we discussed this topic thoroughly. How much does each of us produce in one year? And is really everything, that I consider trash, useless? The answer, that the participants found was quite clear: no, it is not. Because one thing that might be useless for you, could still be of use for the next person. So the students learned about the concept of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle and came up with their own ideas how to put this concept into practice. In the end we talked about the consequences of too much trash in our environment. After having talked about all of this, we wanted to get down to work. With gloves and trash bags in our hands, we went to a small green area in the middle of Szczecin that sadly is littered with trash. 45 minutes, 15 trash bags and some curious findings (an entire television, anyone?) later, we had all gained some valuable experiences. Even though the green area has not been cleaned completely, it is the beginning of a bigger project by POLITES. From now on, there will be more workshops about this topic to enhance the general consciousness about the environment and to make the nature in Szczecin just a little bit more beautiful every time.
